Shimano Catana CX Review

Contents

Introduction

Shimano are a well talked about brand right around the UK, there knack of blending quality, performance and value is usually spot on.

We keep talking about trusted brands in some of our other reviews, but somehow Shimano rods and reels really hit the sweet spot.

A lot of professional anglers who fish day in day out will recommend them if asked what rod and reel to buy.

The Review

A specimen rod,  this ultra slim carbon model delivers during casting and the ‘play action’ is unreal – especially for the cost.  It is designed for all situations including long casting,  margin and surface fishing – the perfect tool.

The ten test curve options mean finding a well balanced tip is made easy (these range from 2lb through to 3lb)

Even a 3-piece model is sold if desired.

Each Shimano Catana is fitted with a DNPS reel seat to really feel the action when it happens. Further up the rod you’ll notice that its fitted with Shimano’s Hardlite guides which seem strong and unlikely to break.

Grip is a big factor when choosing a new carp rod – and the shrink tube rubber split grip feels genuinely able, even with slippery hands.

There’s nothing worse than when the rod slips from your hand!

Summary

It really is a specimen anglers dream, but even if your a beginner you cant go wrong if your willing to spend a bit more than say a Sonik or Daiwa rod.

Yes, it may be double the price – but worth it in my eyes.
